Gifts, a good book, and an owl/cat

Four precious days left of holiday break from school and my to do list is staring me in the face, ug. I was lucky to receive some lovely gifts this Christmas including my new Singer sewing machine, knitting needles (with yarn and how to book"Stitch and Bitch") and a drawing tablet for my computer. All of which are more fun to play with then grading and school planning. I've also been distracted by two bizarrely wonderful books "Handmaid's Tale" and "Geek Love". Here are a two of my first sewn creations: a tote bag and a stuffed creature my sister dubbed "owl/cat"

Magnetic Personality

I went magnet crafting crazy this Christmas, making 5 total sets of magnets for gifts this year. I also recycled 2 mint tins to hold the sets I gave to my mother in law and sister in law. Overall a really fun to make project, requires inexpensive materials, and everyone truly seemed to like their personalized set. The most time was spent searching through magazines for small images that each person would like (sounds silly, but it was agonizing at times).
